HB 212 provides protections and prevents industrial landfills in the state, in any community, from exceeding the current maximum of 130 feet.
When Rep. Frank Cooke heard West Minquadale, one of several neighborhoods in his district, was facing the prospect of living next to a landfill nearly 20 stories high; he didn’t hesitate to jump into action. HB 212 was among the first few bills he worked on during his first year in office that became law.
HB 212 provides protections and prevents industrial landfills in the state, in any community, from exceeding the current maximum of 130 feet. The bill proved to be a step in the right direction, making sure that everyone in Delaware enjoys a healthy and safe neighborhood.
HB 212 also ensures that any future landfills in Delaware are buffered from areas of public use or other environmentally sensitive areas.
